The pole star of each fan of Jesus (the Bible) tells me that Jesus’ message is up-to-date and effective, sharper than any double-edged sword. It penetrates with few words and plunges into every area of my most intimate thoughts and feelings, not stopping at outward appearances but revealing who I really am. (see Hebrews 4:12)

The pole star of the Matrix on the other hand transmits a purely outward spiritual message, one of appearances and pure form/ritual/tradition/doctrine. It, unlike Jesus, uses many words that remain on the surface, leaving my deepest skeletons at peace. It even protects and makes excuses for them, washing over my soul with many empty, false words.

Do the messages you read in religious books, that you hear in your church or download from the Internet follow the Matrix pole star, with its pompous, theologizing superficiality and empty pseudo-spiritual eloquence, or do they have the sword of Jesus, concise and essential, definitely uncomfortable because it digs in deep, but of vital importance for my eternal life?
