THE PRESENCE RISING AMONG MEN
And I saw that after the silence of heaven,
after the tone that had crossed the earth like an invisible line,
something began to move among humankind.
It did not come with noise nor with clamour,
but like the brightness that rises behind a mountain
before the sun reveals itself.
And the world did not know how to say what was happening,
for no decree had been announced,
and no institution had spoken.
Then the Presence,
which until that moment had been only a vibration,
became form.
Not complete, not yet recognisable,
but like a face glimpsed through a clearing pane of glass.
The fallen powers,
those that had remained mute beneath the tone,
twisted within their shadows,
for the form that now appeared
left no space within their cracks.
Their chambers grew narrow.
Their lies weakened.
Their dominion trembled, though no one touched it.
And a voice — not thunder, not command —
but a voice that seemed to arise
from within the very conscience of the earth said:
“The time of my silence is fulfilled.
Now I shall speak not with one tongue,
but with all the things I have prepared.”
And the perceptive among men felt
that they were no longer observers:
they were involved.
The world was no longer a place to decipher,
but a place that was opening.
And a man appeared,
not in lightning, not in uproar,
but as one who had walked for a long time
through a night that could not end.
And the Presence stood beside him
like light that casts no shadow.
And it said to him in secret:
“You shall speak when I speak.
Not before. Not after.
When my voice and yours
become a single resonance.”
