There came a time
when darkness seemed to descend even into the light.
The cities still shone.
Faceless machines crossed the skies.
Breathless intelligences watched over the world.
And humanity, now capable of reaching almost anywhere,
seemed no longer able to reach its own brother.
There they stood. Face to face.
Separated by borders drawn upon the earth
and by abysses carved into the heart.
Both armed. Both convinced they had to stand their ground.
Both so close to the edge
they could feel the breath of the abyss.
It would take so little. A gesture. A spark.
One single step beyond the final step.
And perhaps the darkness would swallow even the dawn.
It was then
that something happened no machine had calculated.
Through the roar of the world came a whisper.
So faint that only the heart could hear it.
It came from far away. Or perhaps from before.
From a time when humanity had not yet learned
to call its brother an enemy.
A Voice. “Son…”
And for an instant,
time stood still on the edge of the Abyss.
The man looked at the one before him.
He no longer saw a flag.
He no longer saw a threat.
He saw two eyes.
And within those eyes,
the same fear of losing the sky,
the same longing for life,
the same invisible reflection of the Father.
Then one hand opened. And something fell to the earth.
No one knew who had been the first.
Perhaps it did not matter.
Because right there,
where everything seemed ready for the end,
humanity remembered something
it thought it had forgotten forever.
It could still choose life.
And the Abyss trembled.
Not at the sound of weapons,
but at the sudden silence
of those who had chosen not to use them.
Then it happened.
On the horizon, the darkness broke apart.
An immense Light burst into Creation
as though the first day were being born a second time.
And all that for millennia had kept the children divided
began to dissolve before their eyes.
The Abyss had not won.
Death had not spoken the final word.
Because on the last inch of earth, when all seemed lost,
humanity looked across the Abyss
and recognised itself in its brother.
And then Heaven opened.
The Light raced from East to West,
crossing peoples, languages, and nations,
and billions of hearts recognized in the same instant
something they had known
before they were even born.
The Father.
And what Matrix had prepared as humanity’s final night
became the dawn of its return.
And it was as though Dad spoke once more:
“Let there be Light.”
And there was Light.
