In a world where my steps can sometimes lead me away from the paths of light, the message of unconditional love and forgiveness resonates with extraordinary power through the parable of the prodigal son told to me by Jesus himself. This story is not just a story of return, but a vibrant hymn to the ability to welcome back with open arms, without reservations or conditions.

The son’s confession, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you: I am no longer worthy of being called your son”, reflects his deep sense of repentance and awareness of his own fall. But my Dad’s response, full of mercy and devoid of any hesitation, is shocking! It teaches me that true love overcomes EVERY barrier, EVERY mistake, EVERY distance.

When the Father orders to dress his son in his most beautiful robe, to adorn him with a ring and to celebrate his return, he shows me that his forgiveness is never halfway. It is not a simple act of forgetting, but a renewed full and total acceptance, as if nothing had ever happened!!! Incredible but true. And this teaches me that, regardless of the depth of my fall, the Father’s love and forgiveness are always ready to embrace me again, to restore me to my full and original dignity.

The parable of the prodigal son is a powerful testament that no matter how far away I may feel, returning home is always possible. The Father’s unconditional forgiveness awaits me, ready to transform my pain and repentance into a celebration of rebirth and newfound hope. This forgiveness is an immense gift, which invites me to forgive in turn, following the example of unconditional love and infinite mercy that was given to me.
