Coronation of a Priest-King

In Old Testament times, the high priest was the highest religious office, acting as the representative of the people of Israel before God. But in Israel, the high priest, who belonged to the tribe of Levi, could never also be a king. Instead, the kings, starting with David, belonged to the tribe of Judah. Priesthood and kingdom were therefore two incompatible positions. There could not have been a priest who was also a king, nor a king who was a priest.

But it is precisely for this reason that the following premonition of Zechariah can be regarded as one of the most mysterious and important prophecies of my polar star the Bible.

I had a vision that showed me the HIGH PRIEST Joshua standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right hand to accuse him.

The Lord said to Satan: “The Lord rebuke thee, Satan! The Lord rebuke thee that he hath chosen Jerusalem. Is he not an ember plucked from the fire?” Joshua was clothed in filthy garments and stood before the angel. The angel said to those who stood before him, “Take off his filthy clothes!” Then he said to Joshua, “Look, I have taken away your iniquity and clothed you with magnificent garments. Then I said, “Let a clean turban be placed on his head!” And they laid a clean turban upon his head, and put garments on him; and the angel of the Lord was present. (see Zechariah 3:1-5).

The word of the Lord came to me again in these terms: “Take some silver and some gold, make crowns of them, and put them on the head of the high priest Joshua.” (see Zechariah 6:9+11)

This crowning as KING of the HIGH PRIEST Joshua by Zechariah (prophet of the Most High), is nothing but a prophetic anticipation of something that will literally happen in the last times to a very mysterious personage.

This mysterious personage, unknown even to the most acute readers of the Holy Scriptures, despite his “filthy garments” and his clearly attested “iniquities”, will become a glorious and powerful KING who will rebuild the temple, but at the same time he will also be a Priest. And, what is even stranger and more mysterious, the two offices, in his person, will not, according to the Creator God, be incompatible!
